Xreal's Project Aura Android XR glasses inch closer to launch with new update

Xreal has shared new details on the Project Aura, the wired Android XR glasses that were first announced in May 2025. They are now set to launch before the end of 2026, and the company has announced a new program for the developers, which offers early access.
This announcement follows the debut of two Android XR smart glasses, which were showcased at Google I/O 2026 and were co-developed with Samsung. These two, however, don't come with any display, and they are more like an alternative to the Meta Glasses (Gen 2) (Wayfarer curr. $390.15 on Amazon) and the Rokid AI Glasses Style, none of which come with a screen.
Xreal's Project Aura, on the other hand, are full-fledged smart glasses with OLED displays. Of course, they are not standalone glasses like the RayNeo X3 Pro or the Inmo Air 3. Instead, the Android XR glasses from Xreal require a wired connection with their puck, making them similar to the Apple Vision Pro.
At Google I/O 2026, Xreal offered demos, which included 180-degree and 360-degree YouTube experiences along with an early look at an immersive Google Maps. The company has even shown the multimodal AI capabilities of the Project Aura by connecting them to a laptop.
There's still no word on the price, and Xreal didn't share an exact launch date either. More details about the Project Aura are expected to emerge soon.
