Xiaomi is getting ready to hold a relatively big launch event in China, and the Redmi Turbo 5 Max will be among the new products set to be introduced at that event. Just recently, the company shared a couple of teasers, and now, it has confirmed some key details of the upcoming mid-range phone.
As initially speculated, the Turbo 5 Max is now confirmed to be one of the first phones to be powered by the Dimensity 9500s. This is a new upper mid-range SoC from MediaTek, and per the promotional materials, it seems to be a better performer than the non-Elite Snapdragon 8 Gen 5.
More specifically, Xiaomi claims that the Redmi Turbo 5 Max can achieve an overall score of 3.61 million points in the AnTuTu V11 benchmark. For comparison, the Vivo X300 Pro, which is powered by the non-S Dimensity 9500, has an average score of 3.39 million points in AnTuTu's official smartphone rankings.
This claimed benchmark score of the Dimensity 9500s is even closer to what the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5-powered OnePlus 15 ($100 gift card free when ordered on Amazon) has on the official AnTuTu rankings. Xiaomi also claims that the Turbo 5 Max can offer smooth gaming performance, with the claimed average being at around 120 FPS in MOBA, 60 FPS in RPG, and 120 FPS in FPS titles.
The company has yet to confirm the launch date and other details of the smartphone. However, it previously hinted that the Turbo 5 Max will fall in the 2.5K price range in China, and CNY 2,500 is around $359. The phone is expected to launch as the Poco X8 Pro Max in the global market.
