Xiaomi launches affordable fitness tracker with 21-day battery life

Xiaomi has launched an affordable fitness tracker in China: the Redmi Band 4. It's an entry-level smartwatch that gets the basics right. The front features a 1.47-inch display with 2.5D curved glass and a 60Hz refresh rate.
This isn't any fancy AMOLED display like the one found on the Xiaomi Band 11 (curr. $67.99 on Amazon). Instead, it's a TFT screen with a resolution of 172x320 pixels. The peak brightness is 450 nits, which should be bright enough for comfortable viewing under most lighting conditions.
With the metal mid-frame and comfort-forward strap, it promises a secure, comfortable fit. While Xiaomi doesn't explicitly mention it, the smart band should be compatible with third-party straps, meaning users can mix and match the wearable according to their style.
A notable highlight of the Redmi Band 4 is that it's rated for up to a 21-day runtime. Of course, that battery life can only be achieved without continuous health monitoring, and if that's taken into consideration, the runtime stands at around 8 days, which isn't bad either.
There are 50 sports modes for fitness tracking, and thanks to the 5ATM water-resistant rating, sweat and water drops wouldn't be anything to worry about. Other than that, the smart band has basic health monitoring features, including continuous heart rate tracking.
Other highlights include music control, weather updates, and over 100 watch faces. In China, the Redmi Band 4 launched at CNY 169, about $25. Xiaomi is expected to launch this affordable fitness tracker outside the Chinese market soon.
