Xiaomi Mi-3S to feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor

The Mi-3 smartphone from Chinese phone maker Xiaomi may soon get an update, reveals a recent leak that also includes a few images. The Xiaomi Mi-3S is expected to feature a minor external redesign and slightly beefed up specs.

The Xiaomi Mi-3 comes loaded with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and packs a 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor next to 2 GB of memory, 16 GB of internal storage and a 5-inch Full HD display. The upcoming Xiaomi Mi-3S will ship with Android 4.4 KitKat, a 2.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chip, 3 GB of memory, 16 GB of storage and the same 5-inch Full HD display as its predecessor. In addition to these, it also features a design with rounded corners which makes it look less boxy than the Mi-3.

Unfortunately there is no hint on pricing and availability of this handset outside of China at this time. Given Xiaomi's excellent reputation on the local market, it is probably only a matter of time until this company goes global.
