When style is everything: reviewing the Seenda Creative WGJP-073-3-SD wireless keyboard and mouse combo
Megan Miranda Reyes Published
The Seenda Creative WGJP-073-3-SD wireless keyboard and mouse combo is one of many stylish keyboards available for around $40, and its frequent sale price of just $22 makes it a great deal for anyone who needs an affordable, easy to use keyboard and mouse set. With its variety of pastel color schemes to choose from, Seenda’s newest keyboard and mouse combo seems aimed directly at minimalist, feminine PC users, yet a few details make it more than inconvenient for this audience.
Neither device can be charged, but each uses a different type of battery: AA for the mouse; AAA for the keyboard. Considering the lightweight, minimalist design, it’s annoying that four batteries from two different packages need to be kept on-hand to power the set. Removing the thin, stiff battery covers can be a pain too, literally. The clips aren’t easy to grab, so if you have nails (even short ones, but especially acrylics), you will probably break one while trying to power on the mouse or the keyboard.
Seenda claims that power can last up to 90 days for each device, which is easy to believe thanks to an automatic sleep mode, a lack of customization options, and only three total buttons on the mouse.
With a design similar to iMac’s keyboard and mouse, Apple fans will probably enjoy this set more than Windows users, although controls labeled for both can be found on the keyboard. The keyboard utilizes concave, retro keys on a quiet membrane, but comes with a somewhat odd button layout.
For gamers, this mouse and keyboard set is completely out of the question. There are simply too many missing features and the cute color scheme isn’t enough to make up for the poor specs. On the other hand, creatives who prefer uncomplicated work setups may find the pop of color and retro finishing touches a perfect addition to their aesthetic PC space.
The Seenda Creative WGJP-073-3-SD wireless keyboard and mouse combo is available on Amazon for $39.99, though it is marked down by 43% to just $22.99 at the time of writing. When it's not on sale, the combo pack varies in price by just a few dollars depending on which color scheme you choose.
The keyboard is a full-sized model, offering users a number pad, as well as some control buttons, alongside the standard keys. As previously mentioned, these extra buttons aren’t exactly intuitive. For instance, there’s a power button on the far right, where the media keys are typically found, that will restart a computer instantly, without any warning. This is a function without clear use or demand. Meanwhile, those all-important media keys are kept to the far left side of the keyboard, which is a bit weird for people used to Logitech, Corsair, Razer, or Redragon keyboards, i.e., most users.
At the same time, the keyboard offers no customizability whatsoever. If you prefer very low keyboards, then you’re in luck. Otherwise, there’s no way to adjust the height or angle of the keyboard, as it doesn’t come with any extendable feet. The keys can’t be customized either, though this is expected of budget keyboards.
Likewise, the mouse is a simple, three button device, giving users just a right and left click, along with a central scroll button. Unlike the keyboard however, this mouse is much more in-line with the expectations of Mac users. The scroll ball is round and smooth, while each clicker gives off the right combination of tactile and auditory feedback that straddles the line between responsive and disruptive.
It’s clear that aesthetics took center stage for this Seenda keyboard and mouse set, and that’s exactly where it shines brightest. At $22, this keyboard and mouse set is a good deal, especially for anyone looking to create a simple, yet cute PC setup. The full price of $40 puts it in direct competition with much more capable sets though, such as those from Redragon. However, those looking for a retro-style, pastel keyboard and mouse combo will be hard-pressed to find something similar for less than $50.
Gamers looking for something cheap and stylish to use in their home office won’t be sorry about picking up Seenda’s super affordable retro keyboard. That being said, the keyboard and mouse set is good for little more than aesthetics and basic tasking, so don’t count on these accessories too much, especially if you’re a gamer.
