After months of testing, WhatsApp is finally rolling out a feature to change its green verification badge to a blue checkmark for verified channels and businesses for the beta users. The change is, therefore, an obvious attempt to change Meta's similarity toward the appearance of the verification badges in their platforms into the blue checkmarks on both Instagram and Facebook.
The blue checkmark in WhatsApp means authenticity, letting users know that they are dealing with a very reputable channel or business. This builds trust for users when engaging with official accounts and averts cases of impersonation. Moreover, the new blue checkmark improves the consistency of brands on all of Meta's platforms and makes a unified user experience across apps.
This new feature to replace the green checkmark badge with a blue checkmark badge is rolling out to a limited beta testers. To get the feature before everyone else, you will have to enroll yourself in the beta program on Google Play Store. However, in the coming weeks, a stable update will be released for broader users.
