Valve starts sending Steam Machine reservation emails ahead of launch

Valve recently confirmed that the Steam Machine will officially launch on June 30, but getting one isn't as simple as clicking a buy button. Instead, interested buyers had to join a special registration program for a chance to secure a unit. Registrations closed on June 25, and when no emails arrived on the same day, many users started worrying that there had been a delay or issue with the reservation system. Fortunately, the wait is now over, as Valve has finally started sending out Steam Machine reservation emails.
Steam Machine reservation emails are going out now
Users who have been selected are receiving confirmation emails from Valve explaining the next steps. Those who secured a reservation won't be able to purchase the Steam Machine immediately. Instead, Valve will send them a separate purchase email once their unit is ready. After receiving that email, customers will have three days to complete their order. If they don't finish the purchase within that window, their reservation will be canceled and passed on to the next person in line.
Valve has also clarified what happened to people who signed up for multiple versions of the Steam Machine. Rather than allowing reservations for several models, the company automatically assigned eligible users to the highest-end version they registered for and removed them from all other reservation lists.
Not everyone received good news, though. Some users are getting emails informing them that they were not selected for this production run. According to Valve, their names ended up beyond the number of units currently available. There is, however, still some hope for them, as if some customers decide not to complete their purchases or cancel their reservations, they will move from the waitlist into the reservation queue.
For those who do manage to buy a Steam Machine, the wait won't be long. The system launches on June 30, so most early buyers should receive their devices during the first week of July. As for everyone else, Valve has not yet announced when the next round of Steam Machine registrations will open.
