Toshiba Satellite U940 Series
There is always demand for lighter, smaller and faster consumer electronics devices. Hectic lifestyle demands that we have a reliable portable device for us to use on the go. Fortunately, Ultrabooks are designed with that in mind. The Toshiba Satellite U940-11N Ultrabook is one of the most recent entries in the Ultrabook category. As expected from an Ultrabook, it is lightweight, slim and small. There is more than adequate storage space in this laptop. A solid-state drive is also utilized for a faster, smoother experience. However, as in the case of many laptops these days, the optical drive has been removed to shed off some weight and size. However, other necessities such as USB and Wi-Fi are present, which should pose no problem to the average user.
The chiclet-style keyboard initially feels rather awkward. Typing feels like tapping your fingers on a rubber glove. However, this is just a matter of familiarity. Sometimes the mouse cursor moves while typing since part of the palm of the left hand rests on the touchpad, due to its position. Awkward input device issues aside, it does pack quite a punch. It has a powerful processor and a generous amount of memory, which should give users a hitch-free experience while using everyday applications. It does not have powerful graphics processing capabilities, though. The widescreen display is vibrant, but quite reflective. The speakers have acceptable quality. Battery life is somehow a couple of hours shorter than other Ultrabook's, clocking in at around 6 hours. It does lack some excitement, but for its cost, it definitely has a high bang-for-buck ratio.

Cheap and light. First of all many ultrabooks are expensive. But Toshiba use a simple plastic case for the Satellite U940 and equip the 14-inch laptop with attractive components including a Core i5 and a dedicated SSD cache.

There’s very little to fault with the Toshiba Satellite U940, because for its price, it does a lot of things right. If you’re in the market for a semi0gaming ultrabook, the Toshiba Satellite U940 should be at the top of your list.

The Toshiba Satellite U940 is a middle of the road laptop, but more importantly it's a decent entry-level Ultrabook. It's reasonably mobile, but offers decent performance thanks to a capable i5 (or an i3, if you want to cut costs further) processor and an SSD as standard. Still, if you're looking for a tool that enables serious (non-graphical) portable productivity for half the price of those Ultrabook trailblazers, you could do a lot worse.

Today we thought we'd check out the Satellite U940, a 14-inch ultrabook by Toshiba that's selling for £500 to £650, depending on the model. The Toshiba Satellite U940 has low heat, it's quiet and has a good processor... but the screen and battery life (kind of a key thing in a laptop) are complete flops.

Non demanding games should be playable with these graphics cards.
Intel HD Graphics 4000: Processor graphics card in the high end Ivy Bridge models. Offers a different clock speed in the different CPU models (ULV to desktop quad core) and therefore a different performance.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.
NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M:
Multiple models based on various chips of the Fermi generation. Specifically, the GT 630M exists in GF108/GF106/GF116 variants, but are all essentially renamed GeForce GT 540M or 555M GPUs. A 28nm GF117 variant exists as well with reduced power consumption.

14.00:
14 inch display size represents a middle ground between the small subnotebook formats and the screens of the standard 15 inch laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, provides good resolutions with usable detail sizes, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact.
In the past, 14-inch devices were very rare, but now they are the standard for laptops after the 15-inchers.

75.27%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
