80% Toshiba's Take on the Ultrabook
Source: Digital Versus English Archive.org version
The Toshiba Kira-102 holds up well in the face of competition thanks to its excellent chassis, decent performance (despite an older-generation CPU) and good battery life. We like the use of new materials and the great contrast on the VA display. However, this laptop failed to win five stars due to its so-so screen colors and disappointing sound quality.

Featherweight. The updated version of the Toshiba KIRA weighs 200 grams less without the touchscreen and is therefore one of the lightest 13.3-inch devices on the market. The new Broadwell hardware ensures sufficient performance and long battery runtimes, but is the high price justified?
80% Toshiba Kira-10D review: Thin, light and well-designed, a premium ultraportable Windows laptop
Source: Tech Advisor English Archive.org version
The Toshiba Kira-10D is a well-balanced premium ultraportable, carrying off a great display, good magnesium build quality and a fast Core i7 processor. It’s thin, very light to suit anyone needing a more satisfactory Windows ultraportable.

Toshiba KIRA (KIRAbook) review – what makes Toshiba’s best ultrabook so special
Source: Laptop Media English Archive.org version
Given the price range of the notebook, it holds several advantages over its competitors. Firstly, the notebook has excellent build quality, durability and it’s lightweight (1.1 kg). The design from subjective perspective is minimalistic, strict and appealing, but some of you might find it boring. However, the most notable feature of the model is the honeycomb-shaped inner chassis that makes it sturdier and it really does the trick. Secondly, the interior is mostly flawless – good keyboard (maybe a little stiff keys, but nothing too worrying) with big enough keys and the “F” buttons are here too, the touchpad is responsive and easy to use, and the surface is pleasant to touch giving enough comfort without getting affected by higher temperatures during long hours of work.

The Toshiba Kirabook (2015) is a perfectly reasonable premium ultrabook but it just doesn’t quite match the competition across a number of key criteria. It may well win in a few categories but not the ones that ultimately count in this sector. Other laptops are better looking, have better screens and battery life, and are cheaper.

If this was the laptop we had to use for the next three years, we wouldn't be at all upset. It's so nicely made, long-lasting and smooth-running that we'd be quite happy keeping it until it fell apart – which will be a long time. The negatives – the ease of scratching, the dim screen, the price – all hurt, but don't stop the Kira being a damn fine example of an Ultrabook, albeit a relatively expensive one.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.

4510U: Haswell-based ULV dual-core processor clocked at 2.0 GHz with Turbo Boost support up to 3.1 GHz. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 4400 and a dual-channel DDR3 memory controller.
