Torras Go-MiniMag Qi2 Power Bank and Ostand Case for iPhone 17 review

iPhone cases are usually more necessary than exciting. Still, Torras adds a circular stand to its Ostand case that might actually make a difference. The new MagSafe power bank also brings a few interesting features. We checked out both.

Torras is a manufacturer of cases for high-end smartphones. They’ve come up with a special solution for the built-in stand, one that not only looks elegant but is actually practical: a circular stand (shaped like an “O,” hence the name Ostand) that rotates 360 degrees and folds out at any angle, letting you position the phone securely in almost any orientation.

Ostand products are available for Samsung’s current Galaxy series, Google’s Pixel phones, and the latest iPhones.

Since Torras also makes power banks, the company sent us the following devices for testing:

  • The Ostand 360° Spin Case in black for the iPhone 17
  • The Go-MiniMag Power Bank, which doesn’t use the Ostand system but is slim and MagSafe-compatible

Unboxing

The phone cases and power banks from Torras come in very slim packaging printed with environmentally friendly soy ink. Unfortunately, the inside still uses plastic trays and films.

The Ostand case notes that the manufacturer offsets the CO₂ emissions produced during manufacturing. Both products are made in China.

At first glance and first touch, both the case and the power bank feel sturdy and high quality.

The packaging of the Torras gadgets is rather inconspicuous.

The 360° Ostand Spin Case is available for all iPhone, iPhone Plus, iPhone Pro, and Pro Plus models starting from the iPhone 14, and even for select iPads. There are also dedicated versions for Google and Samsung smartphones.

The manufacturer provided us with cases for the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro. The color range for the iPhone 17 is similar to last year: the case comes in either clear plastic or black, with a matte translucent back so the actual phone color remains visible.

The iPhone 17 Pro version, however, offers significantly more color options and even alternative materials such as synthetic leather.

Our test unit is cleanly finished and looks very sturdy. The iPhone 17 slides in easily, and the case fits perfectly. The raised edges offer solid protection for the display in the event of a fall.

Torras covered the hinge mechanism on the inside with a simple sticker, which looks a bit careless.

Aside from that, the hinge itself is clever. The circular stand allows the phone to be positioned in many different viewing angles, with four clearly audible locking points. Stability is excellent, and you can even move the phone around without it tipping over.

The hinge is thin and lightweight, which helps keep the overall case slim. Durability is good, although the stand can break if things go very wrong. It takes considerable force to damage the hinge, and it’s not easy to bend permanently.

The manufacturer provides only a six-month warranty for the case. However, they claim the hinge is rated for at least 10,000 openings, which at about ten openings per day works out to nearly three years.

Torras sells the case for about €40.

The Go-MiniMag Qi2 is a MagSafe-compatible power bank that doesn’t use a stand but boosts the iPhone 17’s battery with a hefty 10,000 mAh. We already reviewed the previous, smaller-capacity model last year.

The power bank weighs 190 grams and is 1.6 centimeters thick. In testing, the MagSafe connection to the iPhone 17 felt a bit weak; the power bank slid around more easily than we’d like.

The manufacturer claims to use selected battery cells and multiple safety mechanisms to keep the device protected. Four LEDs on the back show the current charge level. As for charging: it supports up to 30 watts via cable and up to 15 watts wirelessly. A full charge takes about 2.5 hours wired and roughly 4 hours wirelessly.

The Go-MiniMag Qi2 is compatible with a wide range of devices and charged everything we tested without issue, whether through the USB port or wirelessly via Qi2. It also worked flawlessly with all the USB power adapters and Qi chargers we used to recharge it.

Translator’s note: At the time of writing, the Go-MiniMag Qi2 is not yet available on Amazon US.

Fazit

In the test: Torras Go-MiniMag Qi2 Power Bank and Ostand Case for iPhone 17.
In the test: Torras Go-MiniMag Qi2 Power Bank and Ostand Case for iPhone 17.

Torras makes excellent accessories for the iPhone 17 and other high-end smartphones. They’re well designed, thoughtfully engineered, and feel impressively sturdy.

We were particularly impressed by the semi-transparent plastic design of the case, which lets the phone’s original color show through. And of course, the circular stand is the real standout feature: highly flexible and very stable.

The Go-MiniMag Qi2 Power Bank offers broad compatibility, even though it’s primarily designed for the iPhone’s MagSafe interface. Charging via USB or Qi2 also worked flawlessly in testing.

The one thing the manufacturer should rethink is the magnetic strength of the connection. The power bank slides around too easily when attached to the iPhone.

All in all, these are two high-quality, durable accessories from Torras that protect the iPhone and other high-end devices, provide a convenient stand, and recharge phones and other gadgets quickly and reliably.
