These Apple iPhones, Watches, and AirPods will likely be discontinued after the upcoming iPhone 16 event
Apple's forthcoming 'It's Glowtime' event is just around the corner wherein the company is expected to unveil the highly anticipated iPhone 16 series, as well as the Apple Watch X. The iPhone 16 lineup is expected to boast a slightly updated design, better cameras, along with a brand new A18 SoC with more AI chops than ever before.
However, in typical Apple fashion, the Cupertino giant is also expected to discontinue certain older-generation products. The following section includes the devices that we expect to no longer be officially sold by Apple after the upcoming launch event:
iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max - Perhaps the least surprising of all. With the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro Max stepping into the spotlight, its predecessors will almost certainly be phased out.
iPhone 13 - Released in 2021, the iPhone 13 is Apple's cheapest flagship device currently on sale and can be purchased right now for $599. Provided that Apple sticks to its usual pattern, we expect the iPhone 14 to take the 13's place at the same price, while the iPhone 14 Plus will likely be discontinued.
Apple Watch Series 9, SE 2, Ultra 2 - No surprises here. It is highly plausible that Apple will announce successors to its entire Watch lineup in the upcoming event, with all of the current models being retired thereafter.
AirPods 2 and 3 - Apple is widely expected to unveil the fourth-generation AirPods at tomorrow's event, which will likely replace the AirPods 3 released back in 2021. This variant is expected to boast noise-canceling, a feature that was previously limited to only the AirPods Pro (currently $188 on Amazon). Moreover, Apple is also expected to unveil an entry-level variant for the AirPods 4, which will likely replace the currently sold AirPods 2.
