The next co-op hit? Wild West shooter launches with 96% positive reviews

In Far Far West, players step into the metal body of a robo-cowboy who takes on dangerous missions in the cursed West alongside other bounty hunters. The game combines classic western elements with fantasy, steampunk and dark humor: cursed mines, ghost trains, monsters and the undead plunge the prairie into chaos. Towns serve as safe hubs where players can upgrade equipment, customize characters and accept new missions.
The focus is on co-op missions for up to four players. Teams venture into open areas, collect loot, face bosses and ultimately attempt risky extractions. Enemies are taken down with revolvers, shotguns, rapid-fire weapons and magical abilities. Different builds add variety, with options including aggressive gunplay, critical hits, healing and crowd control.

Far Far West launched in Early Access on April 28 and has since collected more than 19,500 user reviews on Steam – 96% of which are positive. Many players are already comparing the title to genre heavyweights such as Helldivers 2, Deep Rock Galactic and Left 4 Dead. The direct gunplay, strong co-op appeal and smooth performance are particularly well received. However, the shooter is not without criticism: some players note that the missions can become repetitive over time, while others would like to see more weapons, maps and enemy types. That is apparently exactly what the developers want to address. The Early Access phase is currently planned to last around twelve months and will be used for new content, more replay value and additional progression systems.
If the developers at Evil Raptor keep it up, Far Far West could well have the potential to become the next major co-op hit in the vein of Helldivers 2. According to SteamDB, more than 32,000 players were active in the cursed West at the same time during the past 24 hours. Until May 12, the title is still available on Steam with a 10% introductory discount for $17.99. The regular price is just under $20. Far Far West is already classified as “Verified” on the Steam Deck.
