Earlier leaks had suggested that Vivo would refresh its Nex 3 flagship phone with a Snapdragon 865- and 5G-equipped variant. Now, the OEM has validated them in a new Weibo post. This new version of the device will launch on March 10, 2020.
Today (March 6, 2020) saw the launch of a new 5G flagship phone series. The OPPO Find X2s will have some extra company soon after their debut: Vivo has announced that it will indeed refresh the Nex 3 with the Snapdragon 865 processor and X55 modem. This updates the original "waterfall display" phone for this year, although it may leave the rest of its specs intact.
This possibility may in fact prove an issue for the Vivo device: it has started with 8GB of RAM in earlier incarnations, whereas OPPO has made 12GB a standard in the Find X2 series. However, fans of extreme screen curvature may prefer the former option.
The Nex 3S 5G will launch on March 10, 2020. Vivo did not mention a venue, suggesting that this event will, like that of the Find X2 (again), be virtual due to the risk of exacerbating the coronavirus pandemic. The OEM is already taking reservations for this phone on the Chinese market via Tmall, but has still not revealed its price, storage specs or color options.
