The Redmi 9i launches in India as an improved version of the 9a
The choice of phones at the ~US$100 tier is getting good in 2020. Now, Xiaomi's second brand Redmi has added to it again with the 9i...sort of. In truth, this device consists of the pre-existing 9a's chassis, but with more RAM and internal storage this time.
Therefore, the "new" 9i is powered by the MediaTak Helio G25 SoC, has a 6-plus inch HD+ screen and a 13MP rear camera; however, it also has 4GB of RAM, whereas the 9a has 3GB at best. Its new version also has 64GB of space in its base model, which is twice that of the older model's top-end offering.
Redmi will start selling this 9i on platforms such as Mi.com and Flipkart starting Setember 24, 2020. On this date, its 4/64GB SKU will be priced at INR 8299 (or ~$113), whereas the 128GB option will be INR 9299 (~$126) in Nature Green, Midnight Black or Sea Blue. The 9a, on the other hand will remain at INR 8075-9210 (~$110-125).
