A South Korean news outlet says that Samsung will reportedly make the Galaxy S21 series compatible with an S Pen. The report suggests that an S Pen-ready Galaxy S phone will help Galaxy Note users transition to Samsung's mainstream flagships. That is essential as the Galaxy Note 21 is billed to be the last of its kind.

With both the Galaxy S21 and Note 21 several months away from release, the rumor mill is abuzz with some wild theories. Some speculate that Samsung will get rid of the Galaxy Note series altogether. Several pundits have weighed in stating that while the rumor hold does hold some water, the Galaxy Note 21 will still be released on schedule. A new report from a South Korean news outlet now sheds some more light on the matter.

An earlier rumor told us that the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra would come with an S Pen. A Heraldcorp story partially agrees with that claim. While the Galaxy S21's panel will accept S Pen inputs, the actual device will not ship with an S Pen. This move is aimed at helping die-hard Galaxy Note enthusiasts make the transition to the Galaxy S series. The Galaxy Note 21 will still be released according to schedule, but the same might not hold for the Galaxy Note 22.

The Galaxy Note series' point was to offer a state of the art smartphone with a large screen. With phone screens becoming larger, that concept feels somewhat outdated. Galaxy Note phones were historically meant for power users who needed a portable high-power productivity machine. Samsung could likely push such users towards its upcoming line of foldable devices, which should serve the same purpose.
