Asus ProArt StudioBook Pro 15 W500G5T review: Powerful workstation with weaknesses
The workstation from Asus scores some major points with its high level of performance, 4K screen and 16 GB of VRAM. Moreover, it also comes with 32 GB of RAM and a 1 TB NVMe SSD. However, there is no Thunderbolt 3 port.

The ProArt StudioBook Pro 15 W500G5T from Asus is a slim, compact 15.6-inch workstation, which weighs only 2 kg. Our review device comes with the hexa-core Core i7-9750H and the Quadro RTX 5000 Max-Q, which is why it provides enough performance for all usage scenarios.

The StudioBook features 32 GB of RAM (running in dual-channel mode). All in all, it features one 16 GB RAM module and 16 GB of onboard random-access memory. This is why the Asus workstation supports up to 48 GB of RAM. Many competitors support up to 64 GB of RAM. The storage capacity (1 TB, NVMe SSD) can expanded by installing an additional NVMe drive. RAID 0 is supported.

The 4K IPS screen scores some major points with its matte surface, good brightness, stable viewing angles and - thanks to a Pantone certification - great colour reproduction. The colour space coverage is also on a good level. However, the contrast ratio should have been higher given the price tag of the device. The battery life can only be described as acceptable. The battery of the W500G5T does not last very long.

There is no Thunderbolt 3 port. The workstation only offers a USB Type-C port (USB 3.2 Gen 2), which can output a DisplayPort signal. All of this means that an external GPU cannot be connected to the workstation. Moreover, the battery of the StudioBook cannot be charged via the USB-C port.
