Tesla teases Model 3 Ludicrous acceleration as first reviews may come with announcement

Tesla is preparing to announce and release the new 2024 Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous trim, but its 0-60 mph acceleration number may disappoint some fans.

"It's not a Plaid," said one of Tesla's heads when asked about it, meaning that the rumors about 2.9 seconds Model 3 Ludicrous 0-60 mph acceleration may have some merit, after all.

The heavier Tesla Model S Plaid accelerates in 1.99 seconds, but it offers 1020 HP, so the Model 3 Ludicrous with its presumed 600+ HP may not accelerate much faster than its predecessor indeed, even though it would be way lighter than the S.

Alternatively, the Model X Plaid version accelerates in 2.5 seconds, but neither Tesla's chief designer Franz von Holzhausen, nor its head vehicle engineer Lars Moravy there would've said "it's not a Plaid" if acceleration was, say, 2.7 seconds, as that would've been too close to a Plaid already.

In any case, Tesla hosted a Model 3 Ludicrous pre-release event last week for assorted tech influencers and YouTubers, indicating that it won't be long before its specs, price, and tax credit eligibility are known.

There are now new pictures of the Model 3 Ludicrous snapped from much closer distance than previous leaks, too.

They put a preview build painted in Tesla's beautiful Ultra Red color on display, showcasing the Ludicrous vortex badge at the racy rear, as well as the new front lip and vented bucket seats.

People are seemingly inside filming or taking pictures, so the first Model 3 Ludicrous reviews should appear alongside the official announcement and launch details, too.
