Tesla may see its sales slump reversed in at least two Nordic countries in March, thanks to the newly released Model Y. Preliminary vehicle registration figures show the electric SUV has regained the top spot in Norway, in what could be a turnaround of the company’s dip in deliveries across Europe.
According to the Norwegian Electric Vehicle Statistics, the Model Y has garnered 485 registrations in March, a clear improvement over 283 units added to the country’s automobile database in the same period in February. The Model 3 took second position with 267 units registered, up from 129 the previous month.
It is a similar success story in Sweden, where the Model Y has climbed to the third spot. Car buyers have registered 318 units so far in March, on track to surpass February’s total of 479. Sales have already exceeded January’s total of 299, according to data reported by CarUp. Meanwhile, the Model 3 is performing worse, at only 60 units.
March is far from over, and the data does not tell a complete story. However, making a comeback in Norway, the EV capital of the world, is undoubtedly a shot in the arm for Tesla after all the bad press generated by global slipping sales in February.
