After resurrecting the free lifetime Supercharging offer for its fastest vehicle with the longest range, Tesla is now bringing gratis charging to the Cybertruck Foundation Series.

In a surprise move indicating a waning interest in its first electric pickup truck, Tesla started offering free lifetime Supercharging for the Cybertruck.

The offer is valid for inventory vehicles in the Foundation Series trim that also comes with free FSD, exclusive badging, and premium accessories.

Those inventory Cybertrucks start from $94,490 for brand new AWD version with "less than 50 mile odometer" on 20" Core Wheels with 35" tires. Under the options and accessories it comes with, Tesla now lists both FSD and free Supercharging.

Tesla recently resurrected the same free lifetime Supercharging offer for its fastest vehicle with the longest range - the Model S - but cautioned that the deal is non-transferable. Unfortunately, the same limitations now go for the free Cybertruck charging, too, says Tesla, and idle or congestion fees would still apply:

Customers who purchase a new Cybertruck Foundation Series are eligible for free Supercharging during your ownership of the vehicle. Order must be placed on or after December 27, 2024. Offer is tied to your Tesla Account and cannot be transferred to another vehicle, person or order, even in the case of ownership transfer. Used vehicles, business orders and vehicles used for commercial purposes (like taxi, rideshare and delivery services) are excluded from this promotion. You are still responsible for Supercharger fees, like idle and congestion fees, when applicable. Order is not eligible for Powershare voucher. Tesla reserves the right in its sole discretion to remove the free Supercharging from your vehicle in the event of excessive charging or unpaid fees related to Supercharging. Promotion subject to change or end at any time.

Still, this is no trivial offer, given that free charging comes for as long as one owns the Cybertruck whose sizeable 123 kWh battery costs a pretty penny to top up every time. A Cybertruck owner recently revealed that he spent $964 last month to charge their electric pickup, which essentially makes it as expensive to drive as a regular gas-guzzler.

Besides the free Supercharging offer, Tesla is introducing other charge-related fixes for the Cybertruck. It recently upped the charging speed available to it at V4 Superchargers to 325 kW, and will be fixing another pet peeve of its owners with the upcoming 2015.2 software update.

The software fix is arriving to unlock battery preconditioning to a level that would allow faster charging and regenerative braking on the Cybertruck. Currently, the 4680 battery pack can charge very slowly on home chargers in cold weather, or regen braking wouldn't work. One has to set their destination as a Supercharger station to manually force the Cybertruck battery to start warming up enough to fully utilize regen braking, then stop the navigation after 10 minutes and go home to charge faster at their home charger.

Tesla has acknowledged the Cybertruck battery charging and regen braking issues in cold weather, and has indicated that a fix is coming with the next software update.
