Tesla releases microphone for in-car karaoke alongside Chinese New Year update
Tesla has released a microphone accessory for in-car karaoke, the TeslaMic. The company launched the device alongside a Chinese New Year software update which added karaoke app Leishi KTV to the vehicles infotainment system.
The TeslaMic is available as a set of two microphones that bear the company’s logo. According to Tesla, the gadgets automatically connect with your car’s infotainment system.
Before the Leishi KTV app, Tesla already had its Caraoke feature, which allows you to sing along to a limited selection of popular songs in your vehicle. The new app brings a much more extensive range of tunes from which you can choose.
Also included in the Chinese New Year update was the ability to update the colour of the car’s render seen on the infotainment system and in your Tesla app, allowing you to select from a colour wheel. Alongside this, the Tesla map has been updated to show real-time traffic data on your route, and it can suggest alternative directions.
The TeslaMic is currently only available in China, priced at ~US$188 (¥1,199). Tesla has not said whether it will release the microphone in other countries. However, the company has recently applied to expand its US trademark to encompass audio equipment, which could suggest that Tesla plans to roll this product out more widely.
