Dogecoin gets a boost as Tesla begins accepting the crypto - just not for car payments yet

Although no Tesla cars can be purchased using DOGE yet, the official Tesla online store is currently selling the Cyberquad for Kids (none in stock right now, apparently) and accepts this meme coin as (the only?) payment method. Other products available for DOGE are the Cyberwhistle and the Giga Texas Belt Buckle.

Tesla has started accepting DOGE as payment on its online store. However, this is not as good as it looks at first sight, especially for those who were planning to buy an electric car by using their meme coin portfolio.

Strangely enough, the MSN article concerning this only mentions the Cyberwhistle and the Giga Texas Belt Buckle, but the Cyberquad for Kids also seems to be open for purchase in DOGE. The merchandise prices are 300, 835, and 12,020 DOGE, respectively.

The terms and conditions for this payment might make some customers avoid it because DOGE seems quite volatile and payments can take about six hours to be confirmed. According to Tesla, when "an order is overpaid in Dogecoin, the overpayment amount will not be refunded to the original form of payment."

In addition to the above, orders paid using DOGE cannot be refunded or canceled. Regular orders of Tesla merchandise can be returned within 30 days of receiving the products.

In the past, Tesla accepted Bitcoin for car payments but decided to stop it due to environmental concerns. Since Dogecoin is more environment-friendly, we might see it being adopted by Tesla for car payments as well later this year.
