Tesla Model Y deliveries halted as buyers rush to take advantage of the 0% APR financing deal

Tesla recently had to subject its cheapest Model Y RWD Long Range version to the updated EPA range test routine, and got a 337-mile range badge of honor that was actually higher than Tesla's previous listing that reflected its own internal testing procedure.

While it is going through the same motions with the 2025 Model Y AWD, though, it has halted all deliveries of the most popular Model Y version, most likely until it gets all of its EPA testing procedure or paperwork submission ducks in a row.

Currently, Tesla gives the Model Y AWD a 308-mile range estimate, but that is according to its internal testing routine that could again end up being more demanding than the EPA's new range test.

The EPA now accounts for a new city/highway mileage mix that is more representative of the driving habits of the American public. Even with a greater proportion of the less efficient highway miles, however, Tesla is still likely to get a higher Model Y AWD EPA range badge than its own current estimate.

Until the range tests are done according to the EPA procedures, though, those who ordered the most popular Model Y trim, hoping to take advantage of the numerous deals and incentives that Tesla has got going in the last quarter of the year, are in for a delivery disappointment.

The pause in Model Y deliveries has come at a rather inopportune time. Tesla now offers a record low 0% APR financing on the Model Y, as well as zero down payment and free FSD transfer deals that can be all stacked on top of the generous federal tax credit discount at the point of sale.

Those willing to take the plunge on a Model Y purchase before the refreshed Juniper facelift is announced some time next quarter, will be treated to sub-$600 monthly financing or zero down payment, in addition to the ability to take their current FSD purchase to the new vehicle.

"This is me right now," writes one Model Y buyer. "Ordered 16OCT, VIN 23OCT, delivery estimate has been pushed one day right for three days now." "Guarantee the vehicle is on the lot right now," they add.

Something similar happened with Tesla's Model 3 Highland earlier in the year, as well as with the powerful Model Y Performance, and the Model S.

At the time, Tesla had to do the updated range testing procedures, too, and the Model 3 refresh orders were sitting on its delivery lots for a good while until it produced an EPA estimate and started shipping them.
