The Tesla Model 3 Highland release date in the US may be fast approaching, as the car has been spotted uncovered for the first time. Instead of the test mule wrapping, the Model 3 Highland slated for US release bared its headlights and rear design for all of its prospective buyers in America to see.
In the US, however, the Model 3 Highland will evidently come with a different headlight design that separates its two sections with an orange reflector, compared to what can be seen on the Highland sold in Europe that is already on the roads there. This is most likely due to the US regulations on things like housing reflectors, size, and overall luminance that differ from Europe where the car headlights game is more advanced than on this side of the pond.
Other than the headlights, this particular Model 3 Highland seems lifted straight out of the Gigafactory in Shanghai, as in China the new facelift comes with the sort of a trunk insignia that can be seen in the spy shots here as well. The vehicle carries a manufacturer license plate, so it is evidently out and about for testing purposes.
For the US release of the Model 3 Highland, Tesla is expected to equip the American version with more advanced HW4 kit for exclusive FSD duties. Facelift owners in other regions are already complaining about the abilities of their limited Tesla Vision-only camera set that fogs in cold weather and has trouble recognizing road conditions as a result.
It remains to be seen how superior would the Hardware 4.0 kit on the Model 3 Highland be after the US release as Tesla is reportedly preparing to launch it here next quarter.
