Surface Pro 8 leaked specifications include a 120 Hz display, Thunderbolt 4 ports and a US$799 starting price
A relatively unknown Twitter account claims to have discovered information about the Surface Pro 8, Microsoft's next flagship 2-in-1. Amplified by The Verge, @Shadow_Leak has published an image from a Chinese retailer that describes the Surface Pro 8 as having the following hardware:
- Intel 11th Gen Core processors
- 13-inch display
- 120 Hz refresh rate
- Two Thunderbolt 4 ports
- Replaceable SSD
As many people have realised, the image above is of the Surface Pro X, not the Surface Pro 8. Simply, the Chinese retailer has poorly edited the image with a Windows 11 background. For one, the background image is not straight. Nonetheless, Anandtech included an identical marketing render in its Surface Pro X refresh coverage last year.
While the renders have been faked, the specifications are in line what The Verge has already revealed. Ultimately, the Chinese retailer may have read The Verge's leak and created this image from that. However, The Verge considers that the image is enough to report on.
Presumably, Microsoft will sell the Surface Pro 8 with Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7 processors, probably the Core i3-1115G4, Core i5-1135G7 and the Core i7-1165G7. Microsoft already sells these processors in the Surface Pro 7+, for reference.
Microsoft's Surface hardware event commences on September 22 at 11:00 ET (UTC 15:00). Wednesday's event should also mark the arrival of the Surface Book 4, Surface Duo 2, Surface Go 3 and a new Surface Pro X. Reputedly, the Surface Pro 8 will start at US$799 and €680 in the Eurozone. It is unclear what memory configuration Microsoft will include in the US$799 entry-level model, though.
