The Iqunix Magi65 Pro is an all-aluminium low-profile wireless mechanical keyboard that plays things a little differently, delivering a quality all-aluminium case, uniquely cushioned mount and typing feel, and solid build quality. The Magi65 Pro's efficient firmware also gives it a leg-up over the competition when it comes to battery life. In a new limited-time Amazon deal, the Iqunix Magi65 Pro has been discounted by 24%, bringing the low-profile wireless mechanical keyboard down to a record-low price of $128.79. Meanwhile, the non-pro version without the macro pad and rotary encoder has been discounted to $118.99, putting it at the same price as the MSRP of the NuPhy Kick75, although that is also currently on sale at Amazon, in case you're looking for something with a more fun aesthetic or something more suitable for commuting and travelling.
Iqunix Magi65 Pro mechancal keyboard details and review highlights
The Iqunix Magi65 Pro is a wireless low-profile mechanical keyboard with a 65% layout and an anodised (Shadow Black colourway) or e-coated (Ochre White) aluminium chassis that features a unique cushioned tray mount. The keyboard uses pre-lubricated low-profile Kailh Choc V2 switches with a POM stem, paired with dye-sublimated uniform-height low-profile PBT keycaps with a subtle spherical top design. The combination of those switches and keycaps, as well as the FR4 plate and unique mounting design, give the Iqunix Magi65 Pro a deceptively soft typing feel and a satisfying typing sound, even if it is somewhat muted. The Magi65 Pro's accessory package is also remarkably complete, with some of the highlights being a coiled USB-C cable, extra macOS keycaps, and two metal accent keycaps for aesthetic purposes.
In our review of the Magi65 Pro, we praised the low-profile mechanical keyboard for the aforementioned satisfying feedback, its solid build quality, and the battery life. By our measurements and estimates, the Magi65 Pro is capable of reaching as much as 330 hours of battery life when connected via Bluetooth — a feat made all the more impressive by the keyboard's relatively small 3,000 mAh battery. Although, it should be mentioned that the Magi65 Pro's battery life drops significantly when cranking the RGB backlight. This is partially due to the bright backlighting, but also due to the aforementioned small battery. This speaks to the keyboard's efficient firmware, which is based on QMK and enables remapping, customisation, and macro recording in the open-source VIA app.
The programmable knob and macro pad on the right side of the Magi65 Pro were also highlights in our review, both in terms of functionality and aesthetics. During our review period, we used the macro pad as a navigation aid for web browsing, which was surprisingly convenient for keyboard-heavy workflows— ordinarily this macro pad is used for media control, but it was easy to assign macros to those buttons instead.
A word of caution for travellers
While the Magi65 Pro is easily one of the best low-profile wireless mechanical keyboards available at the time of writing, especially for users who prioritise typing sound and feel, the keyboard is not suitable for portable productivity setups. Not only does it weigh over 1,000 g, the power switch is hidden under the caps lock key, making it exceedingly inconvenient to carry around in a backpack on a daily commute. If you're looking for a satisfying typing experience in a convenient, portable form factor, you might want to check out the NuPhy Air75 V3 (curr. $159.95 on Amazon).
