The Deed: Dynasty is now free to keep on Steam for a short duration - the deal ends on Christmas day. The narrative crime adventure puts players in the role of a killer trying to frame others, and holds a "Very Positive" user rating aggregate.

The Deed: Dynasty is 2016-released narrative-focused crime adventure from Pilgrim Adventures, and it has been made free to keep on Steam for a limited time. Players can add the game to their library at no cost before December 25 at 10:00 AM (UTC). This release is a standalone follow-up to The Deed (released in 2015), and it builds on the original concept with three distinct scenarios set across historical periods. In each chapter, you play as a member of the Bruce family with the goal of committing a murder and then manipulating evidence and conversations to convince the authorities of your innocence while framing someone else.

Unlike typical adventure games where you solve mysteries, The Deed: Dynasty takes a starkly different approach. Choices matter, and every decision - what you ask people, which item you plant and how you handle interrogations - can lead to very different endings. The game places a lot of focus on narrative and branching outcomes over combat or action-oriented gameplay.

SteamDB data shows the game was historically sold for a few dollars during sales events. The current free-to-keep promotion, however, is its first 100% discount on its regular price if claimed before the deadline. It's important to note that alongside the free promotion, The Deed: Dynasty has appeared in various bundles and discounted packages with other Pilgrim Adventures titles, but, again, it has never been free.

On Steam, the game holds a "Very Positive" rating aggregate, with around 86% of player reviews positive based on several hundred ratings. It’s been described by community members as an interesting twist on crime narratives. Some players dig the satisfaction of crafting evidence and guiding dialogue paths to shape outcomes, while others say the game’s scope is limited by its RPGMaker presentation and repetitive mechanics.

All-in-all, The Deed: Dynasty is a compact, story-driven experience rather than a large-scale RPG. The main challenge will be planning your actions carefully, since small decisions can change who ends up under suspicion. If you think this premise works for you, you can check out the game here
