Hazelight Studios is gearing up to release their latest title, Split Fiction, on March 6, 2025. Known for their award-winning co-op games like It Takes Two and A Way Out, Hazelight is once again inviting players to take part in an unforgettable local co-op experience. Announced at the 2024 Game Awards, the reveal generated excitement by showcasing gameplay that promises a mix of thrilling action, imaginative settings, and cooperative mechanics.
Exploring a new blend of Sci-Fi and Fantasy
Hazelight’s previous games leaned into distinct styles—A Way Out offered some gritty realism, while It Takes Two brought a whimsical fantasy to life. Split Fiction strikes a unique balance between the two, combining science fiction and fantasy as players take on the roles of Zoe and Mio, two characters trapped in a high-stakes simulation. The vibrant mix of genres, showcased in its initial trailer, teases imaginative worlds and dynamic gameplay that fans of the studio will most likely love.
Reinventing co-op gameplay
True to Hazelight’s roots, Split Fiction focuses on player collaboration. Each level introduces unique mechanics that demand teamwork, from raising mythical dragons to utilizing futuristic tech. The return of the popular Friends Pass ensures accessibility, allowing one player to join the fun without purchasing the game. The seamless integration of cooperative play is a very nice feature of several Hazelight-made games, and Split Fiction looks to elevate the experience.
With its March release drawing closer, players can expect Hazelight to unveil more details about Split Fiction in the coming weeks and months. Deeper insights into the story and gameplay features will hopefully surface through additional trailers and demos, building momentum ahead of its debut.
