Sony ZV-E10 II leak details 2x battery capacity upgrade alongside ergonomics, sensor improvements
Details about the Sony ZV-E10 II have previously made their way into the news cycle, suggesting a potential upgraded sensor and processor — both good news for fans of Sony's affordable camera. However, a new leak from ubiquitous leaker Andrea Pizzini on YouTube reveals that the Sony ZV-E10 II will be a stark departure from the original ZV-E10 thanks to a new battery upgrade directly from the Sony A6700 (curr. $1,399 on Best Buy).
Along with corroborating previous leaks about a 26 MP sensor from the A6700, Pizzini claims that two sources have told him that the Sony ZV-E10 II will also share the A6700's NP-FZ100 battery — a substantially larger unit. The battery upgrade represents a capacity uplift of more than 100%, from 1,020 mAh to around 2,280 mAh. A battery upgrade to the bigger NP-FZ100 also means Sony will supposedly make the ZV-E10 II's grip substantially larger than that of the first-generation ZV-E10 (curr. $698 on Amazon).
If previous rumours are to be believed, the Sony ZV-E10 II will likely lack IBIS support, just like its predecessor, which could mean the ZV-E10 II could have longer battery life than the larger, more expensive A6700 it is based on.
The move to a larger grip and battery alongside the supposed sensor upgrade means the ZV-E10 II will be closer to the A6700 than the cut-back APS-C camera has ever been — with likely only IBIS and some buttons and controls differentiating the two. That being the case, it would not be surprising to see Sony raise the price of the ZV-E10 II to avoid losing out on sales of the A6700.
