Sony One: New FAST streaming service coming to UK

On March 26, Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) announced in a press release the launch of Sony One, a new FAST streaming service for LG TV, Samsung TV Plus and TiVo+ in UK. FAST stands for "Free Ad-Supported Streaming TV". This refers to free streaming TV channels that are financed by advertising.

Sony One is set to launch in UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland in April 2024. SPE wants to offer a wide range of content from its own extensive library on 54 channels - from films and series to reality shows.

Sony has recognized potential

Sony One is part of the strategy to make Sony Pictures Entertainment's extensive content available to everyone, wherever they are, across a variety of platforms. Steve Wood, Senior Vice President of Digital Sales and Distribution at SPE, comments:

Sony One launches with 8 channels

The FAST streaming service is set to launch, initially offering eight channels. These channels' content will be carefully curated, with programming tailored to various countries. Currently, it's unclear how many of the 54 channels eventually planned will be available in the UK.

1. Sony One Comedy TV: series such as Seinfeld, The Nanny and The Goldbergs
2. Sony One Thriller TV: series Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul and Justified
3. Sony One Faves: Timeless classics and fan favorites like Bewitched, Community and Dawson's Creek
4. Sony One Comedy HITS: Classic comedies like Step Brothers, Jerry Maguire and Easy A
5. Sony One Action HITS: Action and adventure films such as District 9, Men in Black and Zombieland
6. Sony One Shark Tank: Episodes of the reality series "Shark Tank", in which founders present their business ideas to well-known investors.
7. Sony One Dragons' Den: Episodes of the reality series "Dragons' Den", in which founders present their business ideas to well-known investors.
8. Sony One Blacklist: Episodes of the crime series "The Blacklist", in which one of the world's most wanted criminals works with a young FBI profiler to hunt down criminals and terrorists.
