Sony Authorized Dealer leaks US$349.99 price tag and two colour options for Sony WH-1000XM4
A fourth retailer has leaked the WH-1000XM4. While Sony is yet to announce its new headphones, Best Buy, Walmart and Dell Canada have confirmed practically every aspect of the WH-1000XM4. Adorama, a Sony Authorized Dealer, can now be added to the list of retailers that have jumped the gun on announcing the WH-1000XM4.
Spotted by @ElliotThomasson, Adorama briefly listed the silver and black versions of the WH-1000XM4 for US$349.99, the same price at which the WH-1000XM3 launched nearly two years ago. Adorama did not reveal a release date for the WH-1000XM4, but both versions were orderable. Dell Canada has suggested that Sony will launch the headphones on June 23.
Based on previous leaks, Sony has made several minor design changes from the WH-1000XM3. It would seem that the WH-1000XM4 has a thicker headband, more rounded arms, a redesigned hinge mechanism and a custom button instead of the NC/AMBIENT button that Sony included on the WH-1000XM3. Additionally, the new headphones do not have a silver trim below the headband area, while Sony has switched to a black NFC logo for both colour models.
The WH-1000XM4 will support Bluetooth 5.0 too, along with "Multipoint connection" and "Precise Voice Pickup Technology". Sony's upscaling algorithms have also received an upgrade, with DSEE Extreme replacing DSEE HX on the WH-1000XM4. Overall, the WH-1000XM4 would appear to be a minor visual update over the WH-1000XM3. The inclusion of multi-point connectivity, improved call quality and Bluetooth 5.0 should make the WH-1000XM4 a worthy upgrade from the WH-1000XM2 or WH-1000XM3, though.
