While the Samsung Galaxy S25 series may not see a noticeable battery upgrade, Samsung's 2026 flagship is tipped to switch to SiC batteries. This would make the phones within the S26 series have larger battery capacities and support faster charging than their predecessors.
However, by 2026, Chinese manufacturers could switch to a new battery solution. As tipped by @That_Kartikey, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 flagships that will launch by the end of this year could feature much larger batteries than the current-gen flagship phones.
The tipster reports that the small screen offerings could sport over 6,000mAh batteries, while the top-end flagship phones with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 could reach the 7,000mAh mark. Of course, @That_Kartikey isn't the first leaker that has tipped something like this.
Earlier this month, reliable tipster Digital Chat Station reported something similar. The Weibo leaker claimed that smartphones featuring 7,000mAh battery with support for 120W fast charging are under development (Ugreen 145W Nexode power bank curr. $69.99 on Amazon). As of now, the Realme GT 7 Pro is among the very few Snapdragon 8 Elite flagship phones that feature a battery with over 6,400mAh capacity.
Most of the other phones featuring the current-gen Qualcomm flagship SoC have around 6,100mAh batteries. While @That_Kartikey hasn't explicitly mentioned it, the Xiaomi 16 series could be the first to bring top-end phones featuring the new battery solution.
It's also not clear how much of a size improvement the new battery solution will bring over the SiC batteries. For reference, the SiC technology enabled many of the current-gen flagship phones to sport larger batteries while being thinner than their predecessors. The same may hold true for this rumored new battery solution.
