Seagate has announced the launch of its 32 TB hard drives across its Exos, IronWolf Pro, and SkyHawk AI lines. All models utilize the company's Mozaic 3+ technologies to achieve high data densities.
Mozaic 3+ was initially utilized in the company's 30 TB Exos hard drive for data centers. HAMR (heat-assisted magnetic recording) leveraging a plasmonic laser writer enables precise magnetic bit recordings at high densities on the CMR (conventional magnetic recording) platters.
The data handling algorithms and electronics are customized for each line, with a focus on recording multiple video streams in the SkyHawk AI line, low power usage in the Exos line, and NAS compatibility with low vibration in the IronWolf Pro line.
The helium-filled drives have an MTBF (mean time between failure) of 2.5 million hours under 550 TB per year of sustained writes. The SkyHawk AI model has a sustained transfer rate of up to 285 MB per second, while using an average of 8.2 watts.
The 32TB Seagate SkyHawk AI model has an MSRP of $699.99, the Exos is $729.99, and the IronWolf Pro is $849.99. The drives are available starting January 14, 2026, from authorized Seagate dealers, including the Seagate store on Amazon.
