Reviews for the SCHENKER XMG P304

80% Review Clevo W230SS (Schenker XMG P304) Barebones Notebook | Notebookcheck
Small and powerful. Small and/or thin gaming notebooks have become increasingly popular amongst notebook users. Besides the Alienware 14, Razer Blade 14, MSI GE40 and Gigabyte P34G, the Schenker XMG P304 targets the same customers. A strong argument for the 13-inch device is Nvidia's brand-new GeForce GTX 860M.
80% Schenker XMG P304 review
Source: Trusted Reviews English Archive.org version
The P304 isn’t as good-looking as its competitors, and it lacks a couple of bells and whistles, but it makes up for its lack of style with a much lower price: this model costs £999, which is at least £300 cheaper than every competitor – and more than £500 more affordable than the Alienware 14. If you need a more portable gaming laptop but don't want to pay top dollar for the pleasure, the Schenker XMG P304 is a decent option for you.

80% Schenker XMG P304 review: a laptop that provides strong performance at a competitive price
Source: Tech Advisor English Archive.org version
The new GeForce 860M doesn't break new ground for gaming performance, but the XMG P304 still provides strong performance for games and other applications at a competitive price. It's also a lot more portable than most gaming laptops, so it can earn its keep when you're away from home as well.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M: Upper mid-range graphics card from the GeForce GTX 800M series.

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Graphics Cards and the corresponding Benchmark List.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.

4810MQ: Haswell-based quad-core processor clocked at 2.8 GHz with Turbo Boost support. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 4600 GPU and a dual channel DDR3 memory controller.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.

13.30":

There are hardly any tablets in this display size range anymore. For subnotebooks, on the other hand, it is the standard format.

The advantage of subnotebooks is that the entire laptop can be small and therefore easily portable. The smaller display also has the advantage of requiring less power, which further improves battery life and thus mobility. The disadvantage is that reading texts is more strenuous on the eyes. High resolutions are more likely to be found in standard laptops.

» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.

80%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
