Reviews for the SCHENKER XMG C405
Compact beast. Compact or powerful? The Schenker XMG C405 is both. This 14-inch model runs all the latest games but we recommend using headphones.

Model: The Schenker XMG C405 is a more down to earth and simpler looking custom gaming laptop but still able to pack in a punch. At first glance, the Schenker XMG C405 looks like a business laptop with a black cover and silver color scheme. Edges are rounded with a more traditional laptop silhouette and the black tile keyboard features a white LED backlight. The hinge system is solid and holds the 14 inch FHD LED backlit AHVA display. Color representation is very good with 72% GAMUT and the screen brightness is good.
The 1.67 kg laptop is lightweight and slim yet can stay cool thanks to its dual fan configuration. Hardware on the device consist of an Intel Core i7-4720HQ quad-core processor clocked at 2.60 GHz, a maximum of 16 GB 1866MHz DDR3 RAM, an NVIDA GeForece 970M or an NVIDIA GeForce 965M GPU depending on the configuration selected. Storage can be configured to accept a 9.5 mm 2.5 inch SATA 3 and an mSATA 3 SSD combination. Audio quality is another strong point with speakers using the Dolby Home Theater v4 technology. Other capabilities include a card reader, an HDMI port, a VGA out, four USB 3.0 ports and an HD webcam. The Schenker XMG C405 comes with a battery life of up to 6 hours of general usage.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 965M: Lower high-end graphics card based on the Maxwell chip GM204 and GM206 (newer 2016 version with higher clock rates). Part of the GeForce GTX 900M series.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
4720HQ: Haswell-based quad-core processor clocked at 2.6 GHz with Turbo Boost support up to 3.6 GHz. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 4600 GPU and a dual channel DDR3 memory controller.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.

There are hardly any tablets in this display size range anymore. For subnotebooks, on the other hand, it is the standard format.
The advantage of subnotebooks is that the entire laptop can be small and therefore easily portable. The smaller display also has the advantage of requiring less power, which further improves battery life and thus mobility. The disadvantage is that reading texts is more strenuous on the eyes. High resolutions are more likely to be found in standard laptops.
» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.71%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
