Just a few days ago rumors indicated that the Samsung Galaxy Book6 Edge will be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Elite. That alone is a big change compared to the Intel processor of the Galaxy Book6 ($1,149 on Amazon). As Sammobile reports, an even bigger change is planned, as Samsung is said to be developing a Galaxy Book with One UI 9 based on Android 17.
This allegedly uses the new, Android-based ChromeOS version, which is codenamed Aluminum OS. However, Samsung is said to be heavily customizing the user interface so that it largely corresponds to DeX, the desktop mode supported by some Samsung smartphones and tablets. Samsung is also expected to add a number of AI features to the software that are already familiar from the manufacturer's smartphones.
According to information from Sammobile, at least three models with Android are planned, from an affordable laptop that competes with the Apple MacBook Neo to a powerful flagship notebook. So far, no further details on the features or launch schedule of these Galaxy Books with Android are known. However, the fact that they are to be delivered with Android 17 points to a launch in the second half of 2026 or the first half of 2027. It is still unclear whether the Galaxy Book6 Edge with Snapdragon X2 Elite will already be equipped with Android or whether customers need to wait for the Galaxy Book7 series.
