Samsung Galaxy Watch 3: Hands-on images and specifications revealed for 41 mm and 45 mm models

Samsung is rumoured to be unveiling the Galaxy Watch 3 at a Galaxy UNPACKED event on August 5 along with the Galaxy Note 20 series and the Galaxy Buds Live. While plenty has already been revealed about Samsung's next smartwatches, the Radio Research Institute (RRI) has revealed hands-on images of two models. Listed as the SM-R840 and SM-R850, these codenames correspond to the 41 mm and 45 mm Wi-Fi-only versions of the Galaxy Watch 3. According to previous leaks, the SM-R845F and SM-R855F will be the LTE models.

The SM-R840 and SM-R850 would also appear to have slightly different designs. While they both have two buttons and the minute markings around the display, the SM-R840 has a toothed bezel like the original Galaxy Watch. By contrast, the SM-R850 has a smooth bezel, although not like the one that Samsung included on the Galaxy Watch Active 2.

According to SamMobile, both variants will have rotating bezels. Samsung will also offer the Galaxy Watch 3 in stainless steel or titanium. All models will be IP68 certified and will conform to MIL-STD-810G specifications. Additionally, the 41 mm model will correspond to a 1.2-inch display, while the 45 mm version will have a 1.4-inch display instead. Both will be covered by Corning Gorilla Glass DX. According to SamMobile, the 41 mm version will measure 41 x 42.5 x 11.3 mm, with the 45 mm model coming in at 45 x 46.2 x 11.1 mm.

SamMobile also claims that the Galaxy Watch 3 will have eight pulse-reading photodiodes, an electrocardiogram (ECG) and will support blood pressure monitoring. The RRI listings also reveal that the SM-R840 and SM-R850 will have different head SAR values. The two devices differ wildly here, with the SM-R840 and SM-R850 certified for maximum values of 0.164 W/kg and 0.365 W/kg, respectively.

The 41 mm and 45 mm models will have different battery capacities too. According to SamMobile, the former will have a 247 mAh battery compared to the latter's capacity of 340 mAh. Samsung will complement these batteries with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage.
