Samsung is set to announce the launch of the new S8 Active, a more rugged variant of the S8. The device appeared on Geekbench earlier today, revealing some standard performance scores for a Snapdragon 835 device.

Another day, another flagship-level performance on benchmarks. We just had the Honor 9 take on this year's flagships on Geekbench and it's already time for the S8 Active to step into the ring.

Samsung's upcoming device was spotted on Geekbench today with the name, SM-G892A. The S8 Active is a slight variant of the regular S8, as it ditches the S8's curved edges in favor of a more functional, rugged look. It is powered by the Snapdragon 835 and will carry 4GB of RAM.

Its scores on Geekbench were expected at best, doing well to beat the Sony XZ Premium and LG G6 on both multi and single-core tests but still losing out to the newly released Honor 9, Xiaomi Mi 6, and the standard S8 with the Exynos 8895.

The device will sport a 5.8" QHD display, the aforementioned Snapdragon 835, 4GB of RAM, a 12MP rear camera and an 8MP selfie shooter, and a 4000mAh battery. Keeping with its more rugged outlook, it will have a shatter-resistant screen and a dust/water-proof build.
