Last week, the affordable Samsung Galaxy On7 Prime has been announced by Amazon India, but without any price or launch date. Now, India is one step closer to this device's arrival, since Samsung India has scheduled a special launch event for January 17. This time, we are not talking about rumors, since this is an official event and invites are flying out as we speak.
Specs-wise, the Galaxy On7 Prime is a mid-range offering. Its highlights include the 5.5-inch full HD display with 2.5D edges and Corning Gorilla Glass protection, the octa-core Exynos 7870 processor, a metal unibody design, and the ability to perform payments via Samsung Pay Mini.
Samsung Pay Mini is a less potent version of Samsung Pay that uses UPI (Unified Payments Interface) and mobile wallets like Paytm to get the job done instead of MST or NFC. Next to it, the Galaxy On7 Prime also comes pre-loaded with Samsung Mall. If the name is not enough, you should know that Samsung Mall is a shopping app that uses image recognition to retrieve products. Even more, an augmented reality feature allows you to try on (virtually, of course) some of the products before deciding to purchase or drop them.
At last, we should also mention the front and rear cameras, both with 13 MP sensors and f/1.9 aperture, the front-facing fingerprint reader, and the two hardware configurations: 4 GB RAM/64 GB storage or 3 GB RAM/32 GB storage. The missing details should be revealed in just two days, so stay tuned. Anyway, do not expect for the Galaxy On7 to burn a hole in your pocked, since we heard that it should start around the US$200 mark.
