Back in May, the 5.6-inch Galaxy J6 arrived on the market. This Exynos 7870 Octa-powered handset is an affordable device with a 720p Infinity Display (1,480 x 720 pixels, Super AMOLED), Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box, and up to 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage. Available in India already, it just got a new local version that has the same hardware specs, but can only be acquired online. The name of this online-exclusive Galaxy J6 is Galaxy On6.
The Samsung Galaxy On6 only comes in black and blue, while its sibling also features a gold option. The top variant, which features 4 GB of memory and 64 GB internal storage is priced at INR₹14,490 (around US$212). This is INR₹2,000 (around US$29) less than the same variant of the Samsung Galaxy J6 (2018). As mentioned earlier, the catch is that the Galaxy On6 does not come in gold and cannot be acquired from offline retail stores.
In addition to the specs and features mentioned so far, we should also point out that the Galaxy J6/Galaxy On6 features a fast fingerprint reader mounted on the back, 8 MP/13 MP front/back cameras, 4G LTE, dual SIM support, a 3,000 mAh battery, Chat Over Video (an exclusive feature for the Indian market that allows the user to reply to WhatsApp and SMS messages with the help of a transparent virtual keyboard while watching videos), and Dolby Atmos support (sadly, limited to wired and Bluetooth audio).
The Samsung Galaxy On6 is scheduled to go on sale via Flipkart and Samsung India's official online store on July 5. If you live in India and avoided the Galaxy J6 for some reason, would you consider buying the Galaxy On6? Let us know in the comments.
