While Apple and Google both have their mobile payment services up and running, Samsung delays the launch of Samsung Pay once again. On the other hand, this delay comes with a confirmation that leaves little room for another delay/cancellation - the service will launch in September, most likely in conjunction with the Galaxy Note 5.
According to Bloomberg, Samsung executive vice president Injong Rhee made the launch public during an investor call on Wednesday. The previous launch date of the Samsung Pay mobile payment service the company announced was "as soon as July." The mobile payment market reached $67 billion this year, but is expected to top $142 billion by 2019, claims Forrester Research.
Seoul-based analyst Claire Kim highlights that "The new service will likely be deployed on its next Galaxy Note device." Unfortunately, Rhee did not reveal any details concerning the "next high-end mobile device" that will accompany Samsung Pay's launch, so remains to see if their next-gen flagship phablet arrives in September or not.
