Reviews for the Samsung Galaxy Book Ion 15 NP950XCJ-K01DE

Although unconventional in a number of ways, so many of those features - user-expandable storage and RAM, an eye-catching finish, NUM pad, large screen aspect - will only add to this laptop's appeal. It's good to see Samsung back in the game and trying things a little differently, with positive effect.

The Samsung Galaxy Book Ion 15.6 is one of Samsung’s first and possibly one of the earliest notebooks to use quantum dot (QLED) technology. Other major highlights of the Galaxy Book Ion are its lightweight build and wireless-charging touchpad. This time, the 15.6-inch Galaxy Book Ion launched by Samsung uses a thin and lightweight design, it measures W355.0 × D227.2 × H14.9 mm and weighs 1.52 kg, so it is very easy to bring out the street. In addition, a silver-white design was used for the build, and a matte material for the laptop surface. In terms of the configuration, it is equipped with Intel's 10th generation Ice-Lake Core processor, 16 GB of LPDDR4X memory and 1TB NVMe SSD. As for graphics, it is also equipped with a Nvidia GeForce MX 250 2GB GDDR5 dedicated graphics card. The screen supports 360° rotation and uses a QLED touch screen (Quantum Dot LED) with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixel, a peak brightness of 600 nits, and excellent colour performance. It also has an outdoor mode. When it is used outdoors, as long as this mode is activated, the screen brightness will be further improved, so that everyone can clearly see the content displayed on the screen, even in the sun. The display is so different that users will immediately feel the difference when they switch from a different laptop. The QLED display just makes it that much better for content playback.
For connectivity, it supports the latest WiFi 6, features integrated AKG stereo speakers and fingerprint recognition for Windows Hello functions, a dual-array microphone and a 720p camera on the top, plus, it comes with an S Pen stylus that allows for easier note taking. The expansion options on both sides include two conventional jacks, namely Thunderbolt 3 and a microSD-card reader. Powering the laptop is a non-removable 69.74Wh lithium battery. It can be used for more than 21 hours with a full charge. It is also worth mentioning that as long as the Wireless PowerShare function is turned on in the software, the TouchPad of the computer can be turned into a wireless charging pad. It can charge a phone as long as it is placed on it, but the user cannot use the TouchPad while charging. Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Book Ion 15.6 is an attractive laptop with a great display panel. It also features good performance with the hardware. It has achieved a great balance between a lightweight build, performance and appearance, but at a slightly higher price point.
