Samsung has announced a new gaming monitor in China, where it appears to be an exclusive for now. Sold as the Dragon Knight G7, the gaming monitor resembles the Odyssey series that it offers in other markets. Hence, the Dragon Knight G7 may provide a glimpse into what Samsung has planned for a forthcoming 32-inch Odyssey monitor.
As the image below shows, the Dragon Knight G7 relies on a 32-inch IPS panel that outputs at UHD/4K (3,840 x 2,160). Additionally, Samsung claims that the panel delivers 95% DCI-P3 colour space coverage, as well as 1 ms response times (GtG), a 144 Hz refresh rate and VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification ensuring at least 400 nits of peak brightness. The Dragon Knight G7 supports AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and NVIDIA G-SYNC too, for minimising image tearing with AMD and NVIDIA graphics cards.
Elsewhere, the Dragon Knight G7 utilises Tizen OS, has an adjustable stand and provides video-out via DisplayPort 1.4 or HDMI 2.1. Samsung sells the Dragon Knight G7 for CNY 4,999 (~US$717). There is no word on a global release yet, although we would not be surprised if the Dragon Knight G7 turned up under Odyssey branding during next month's CES 2023 conference.
