Samsung has just unveiled a new Chromebook portable powered by an Intel Celeron processor from the Bay Trail-T family. The 11-inch Samsung Chromebook 2 now has an Intel Celeron N2840 processor under the hood and is already available for pre-order for $249.99 USD directly from Samsung.

Samsung Chromebook 2 will be widely available via multiple retail channels later this week. Samsung only revealed on configuration for now, the NP900X3E-A02US. This Chromebook 2 has the following highlights:

  • Processor: 2.58 GHz Intel Celeron Processor N2840 (fanless design)
  • Memory/Storage: 2 GB DDR3L 1333 MHz; 16 GB internal eMMC storage
  • Display: 11.6-inch LED with 1,366X768 pixels and anti-reflective technology
  • Camera: 720p webcam certified for use with Google Hangouts
  • Audio: 2X2W speakers, high definition
  • Operating System: Google Chrome
  • Autonomy: up to 9 hours
  • Weight/Dimensions: 2.65 pounds; 11.40X8.60X0.66 inches

According to the official press release, this machine has a premium build that "is nearly seamless, supported by a strong metal frame from top to bottom and covered with a leather-like case, giving the Chromebook 2 the look of an expensive briefcase."
