Robot vacuum with a mop roller at an attractive price: Ecovacs Deebot T90S Pro Omni review
Outstanding value for money.
Can the Ecovacs Deebot T90S Pro Omni surpass its predecessor’s strong performance? Our review of the new mid-range robot vacuum with a thorough-cleaning mop roller at an attractive price reveals the answer.Marcus Schwarten (translated by Marcus Schwarten) Published 🇩🇪
Ecovacs Deebot T90S Pro Omni review verdict: High performance at an attractive price
The Ecovacs Deebot T90S Pro Omni impressed in almost every respect in our test - improving once again on the strong performance of its predecessor, the Deebot T90 Pro Omni. It mops very well and shows hardly any weaknesses when vacuuming either. Navigation is not quite top-tier, but obstacle detection is. There are also useful improvements such as the mop roller cover, with only a few compromises, for example when cleaning corners.
With a recommended retail price of 799 euros, the Ecovacs Deebot T90S Pro Omni delivers an impressive result in our test with only a few weaknesses, once again giving even some significantly more expensive flagship models a run for their money. Only households with special requirements, such as lots of tight spaces, thicker carpets and higher thresholds, should spend a little more.

Features: Targeted improvements, stylishly packaged once again
Before we get into our hands-on impressions, first a few general details about the features and improvements. A look at the device itself reveals only minimal changes. The Deebot T90S Pro Omni once again comes with a fairly compact station. The design remains simple and elegant, looking more stylish, in our opinion, than that of many other robot vacuums. However, dust quickly collects on the slightly rough surface.
A look at the data sheet above reveals that there are indeed a few changes compared to the Deebot T90 Pro Omni. Among other things, the manufacturer has increased suction power by 33 percent to 40,000 Pa with an airflow of 16.45 L/s. This promises even better dust pickup, which we will discuss further below. At the rear is once again the Ozmo Roller 3.0 - the current generation of Ecovacs' mop roller, which is also fitted in the current flagship Deebot X12S OmniCyclone (approx. €1,000 on Amazon). What is new is that the mop roller can not only be raised by up to 15 mm, but is also "shut away" by an extending cover when cleaning carpets.
We are already familiar with the PowerBoost instant charging feature from its predecessor. In just 3 minutes, the robot tops up its battery by 10 percent during brief maintenance stops at the station. Ecovacs' AI agent Yiko is also on board, now in its second generation. And in the station, which can once again dispense cleaning solution automatically, the mop roller is cleaned with even hotter water at temperatures of up to 100°C.
The accessories included with the standard version (not Omni Care) are very limited. At least a bottle of cleaning solution is included alongside the robot vacuum, the station with its power cable, and the manual.
Setup and app: As comprehensive as ever
In recent years, we have had no problems setting up any of the Ecovacs robot vacuums we have tested. The Deebot T90S Pro Omni is no exception. The app and the robot's voice prompts (initially in English) provide helpful guidance through connecting the robot, setting up Wi-Fi and then mapping.
During mapping, the robot explores its new surroundings and creates a virtual map. Its initial room layout was not quite as accurate as we have seen with some other models in our tests. However, the extensive customization options let you correct this with just a few taps. Then simply fill the station with water, and the first floor cleaning can begin.
Three different modes are available: vacuuming only, vacuuming and mopping, and mopping after vacuuming. As with the T90, there is still no mop-only mode - a shame, but not the end of the world. There is also an AI agent mode that provides an AI-optimized cleaning plan tailored to your home. Suction power can be adjusted in four levels (quiet, standard, high, max), while the water flow rate for mopping offers very fine adjustment across 50 levels. There are also three cleaning speeds (standard, efficient, deep cleaning) and a choice of one or two passes. All of this is familiar from its predecessor and many other Ecovacs models.
As usual, the map shows live progress while the robot is working. In addition to cleaning the entire home, you can target individual rooms and zones. Numerous settings for the robot and station, a live video function (after setup) and the Yiko 2.0 AI voice agent round out the features.
Navigation & obstacle detection: Good, but not perfect
As before, Ecovacs uses Mini-ToF technology and AIVI 3D 4.0 at the front of the Deebot T90S Pro Omni, dispensing with the conventional laser turret. Nevertheless, navigation worked reliably and generally provided thorough coverage, although the robot occasionally turns on the spot to get its bearings, as it lacks a 360-degree view. The Deebot T90S Pro Omni was not quite as bold or proactive in approaching corners and tight spaces as other robot vacuums in our tests, often skipping them entirely.
With obstacle detection set to high sensitivity, the robot vacuum and mop did not appear particularly confident either. Ultimately, however, it successfully detected all test obstacles, including a 4-by-2-stud building brick and a loose shoelace, without touching them. Overall, it could have cleaned around smaller and larger obstacles a little less hesitantly and more confidently. Switching to standard sensitivity improved this to some extent in our test. However, the Deebot T90S Pro Omni then knocked the smallest test obstacle out of the way.
On the positive side, we found that the Deebot T90S Pro Omni now also checks for obstacles a little more carefully when returning to its charging station. This had long been a major weakness that led to occasional collisions.
Cleaning performance: Really strong mopping
The Deebot T90 Pro Omni already impressed us with its good cleaning performance in our test. Its successor is every bit as good - and goes a step further with 33 percent more suction power. This particularly benefits the robot vacuum on carpets, where it now extracts even more dirt from the fibers. The pile should not be too high, however, as this causes problems (as it does for many other robot vacuums), leaving more dirt behind between the fibers.
The Deebot T90S Pro Omni had no problems at all on smooth floors in our test. It achieved very good cleaning results on tiles and laminate, including with its 27 cm-wide mop roller. The robot removed everyday dirt very reliably and much more thoroughly than many other robot vacuums, without spreading it around. This is particularly beneficial for greasy stains - although unfortunately there is no mop-only mode. Like its predecessor, it independently detected a milk stain on a dark floor and only mopped it. The robot vacuum and mop also removed a slightly dried-on ketchup stain almost completely after two passes, which is an excellent result.
Overall, the Ecovacs Deebot T90S Pro Omni thoroughly impressed us with its mopping performance in our test, performing even better here than when vacuuming. Buyers still have to do without an extendable side brush, however. Although its two brush arms are very long, they do not deliver particularly good corner-cleaning results, just as with the predecessor. The mop roller, on the other hand, still mops right up to the edge, although it could sometimes extend a little more readily. An optional setting for this is available in the app.
The anti-hair-tangling system impressed us in our test, handling even long hair without any problems. The cleaning station also did a thorough job, cleaning not only the mop roller itself but also the wash tray well. This reduces maintenance, although the process could be a little quieter, particularly during drying. The robot vacuum itself was comparatively quiet in our test.
Battery life & power consumption: 10 percent in 3 minutes
For comparability, we have all robot vacuums in our tests clean around 50 square meters in one session using the default settings. The Ecovacs Deebot T90S Pro Omni needed around 80 minutes for this. At the end, its battery level was 63 percent. Fast charging during the brief stops to clean the mopping unit also helps make this possible. During these three-minute stops, the battery gains 10 percent, extending runtime and allowing larger areas to be cleaned without long interruptions.
Based on our test impressions, the robot can easily clean more than 100 square meters on a single charge with the settings we used. This is slightly less than its predecessor, which had a somewhat higher battery level remaining at the end of the test cycle. Power consumption was also slightly higher, likely due in part to the higher suction power and self-cleaning temperature.
Extrapolating the scenario of cleaning 50 square meters once a day to a full month, our measurements indicate monthly energy consumption of just over 12 kWh - helped by standby power consumption of less than 2 W. This makes the Ecovacs Deebot T90S Pro Omni not only fairly affordable to buy, but also economical in terms of monthly electricity costs.
