Ecovacs T90 Pro Omni test conclusion: Impressive mid-range robot vacuum

The Ecovacs Deebot T90 Pro Omni offers impressive features and performance in the test for just under $900 MSRP. The cleaning performance, especially when mopping with the wide roller, made many more expensive flagship models from the recent past pale in comparison.

Further plus points are the at least moderate climbing ability and fast charging, which benefits the area coverage without a long charging pause. However, the Deebot T90 Pro Omni also had to accept some criticism in the test, including problems with navigation and the lack of a pure mopping mode.

Overall, however, the positive aspects definitely outweigh the negative ones, especially as most of the points of criticism could be rectified with a software update. Overall, the Ecovacs Deebot T90 Pro Omni delivers a remarkable performance in the test, even when measured against the MSRP. If you want something even cheaper and can do without one or two features, you can opt for the Mova S70 Roller.

Pros

+ very good wiping performance
+ good suction power
+ large area thanks to fast charging
+ extensive equipment
+ compact, stylish station

Cons

- weaknesses when cleaning corners
- obstacle detection on return to station
- no pure mopping mode

Features: Flagship features in the mid-range

Although the Deebot T90 Pro Omni is a mid-range model with an MSRP of just under $900, Ecovacs has given it a range of flagship features that we are familiar with from the manufacturer's more expensive models.

Firstly, there is the Ozmo Roller 3.0 mopping roller. Not only is it now significantly larger than in the previous generation at 27 cm, but it can also be extended and raised by 15 mm for carpet cleaning. As we know it from mopping rollers, the T90 Pro Omni also constantly rinses it with fresh water and removes dirty water. A shield like some other models such as the Mova Z60 Ultra Roller (approx. $800 on Amazon) does not offer. The "carpets first" setting helps here.

Ecovacs claims a suction power of up to 30,000 Pa. This is at flagship level. The so-called PowerBoost charging was also previously reserved for the premium models. We will reveal what this means below. We will also take a closer look at the Deebot T90 Pro Omni's built-in navigation and obstacle detection technology later on. The specially shaped side brush cannot be extended, but it can be raised.

ECOVACS also ensures clean windows

ECOVACS not only offers practical vacuum and mopping robots, but also makes it easy to keep windows clean. The ECOVACS WINBOT W3 Omni window cleaning robot with Vortex Wash technology is brand new on the market.

A washing machine for automatic cleaning of the wiping cloths is integrated into the window robot's station. This eliminates the need for manual washing and makes window cleaning even easier.

The WINBOT W3 Omni also scores on the window with its outstanding and innovative features. TruEdge technology, the three-nozzle wide-angle spray function and WIN-SLAM 5.0 navigation with real-time obstacle detection ensure seamless and thorough cleaning across the entire surface. A 12-stage protection system also ensures safe use.

Order the ECOVACS WINBOT W3 Omni now from MediaMarkt or OTTO and never clean windows yourself again.

Suction into the dust bag, which at 2.5 liters is somewhat smaller than in some other models, is taken for granted nowadays. On the other hand, the Deebot T90 Pro Omni from Ecovacs offers automatic dosing of cleaning agents from a small tank. The cleaning of the mopping unit, which is carried out with 80°C hot water, and subsequent hot air drying are standard in this price range.

All of this is packaged in a compact and stylishly designed station with elegant-looking textured surfaces. A small visual flaw: the removable washing tray made of light-colored plastic detracts from the overall impression when the robot is not parked.

Scope of delivery of the Ecovacs Deebot T90 Pro Omni
Scope of delivery of the Ecovacs Deebot T90 Pro Omni

The scope of delivery of the Ecovacs Deebot T90 Pro Omni is manageable. In addition to the robot vacuum and the Omni Station, it comes with the obligatory power cable, instructions and a bottle of cleansing agent.

Set up & app: No pure mopping mode

Once the connection between the robot, app and Wi-Fi network has been established smoothly during the test, the obligatory mapping run follows. In our test environment, the virtual map created here was not quite on a par with some other models in terms of room recognition. However, this could be adjusted within a few minutes using the map management. All the usual features such as restricted zones, thresholds, floor material and furniture are available.

Unfortunately, we can't quite say the same about the cleaning modes. Once again we miss a pure mopping mode. In addition to the AI mode, there are only three options to choose from: "Vacuum only", "Vacuum and mop" and "Mop after vacuuming". The remaining customization options are extensive, with four levels of suction power (Quiet, Standard, High, Max.), 50 levels of water flow rate for the mopping function, three cleaning speeds (Standard, Deep Clean, Efficient) and one or two passes.

The progress of work can be tracked live in the overview of the appliance entry. To clean individual rooms as an alternative to zone and complete cleaning, these must be selected on the map. Numerous setting options are available in the menu. Live video transmission and Ecovacs' own voice assistant Yiko are also available.

Navigation & obstacle detection: a familiar problem

As recently seen in the Mova S70 Roller, Ecovacs has also dispensed with a laser tower in the Deebot T90 Pro Omni. This benefits the overall height, which at 95 mm is not quite as flat as the mop-roller vacuum robot S70 Roller from Mova. This means that this test candidate does not get under furniture quite as well, but is significantly flatter than the Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Flow (available on Amazon), which has the same mopping technology and is also in this price range.

The Mini-ToF technology for orientation and AIVI 3D 4.0 for obstacle detection are located in the front of the robot robot vacuum, supported by a TruEdge 3D edge sensor on the side. Typical for this solution, the Ecovacs Deebot T90 Pro Omni also has to turn occasionally when navigating in order to orient itself. The 360-degree view of a classic laser tower is missing. Nevertheless, it is slightly faster in the 25-square-meter duel than the comparable Mova S70 Roller.

Overall, navigation is reliable and comprehensive in largely systematic paths. The climbing capabilities of up to 2.4 cm for single steps and up to 4 cm for multiple steps did not leave a really confident impression in the test, but are still impressive for a mid-range model.

At 95 mm, the Deebot T90 Pro Omni is relatively flat and does not require a laser tower.

In terms of obstacle detection, the T90 Pro Omni basically performed at a mid-range level in the test. Large obstacles were avoided. However, it occasionally came into contact with thin, black chair legs. And the robot rarely got stuck on obstacles with its extended mopping module.

It recognized a 3x3 cm toy brick, but no longer recognized it at half height. On a positive note, however, it did not touch a shoelace lying on the floor during the test. Some much more expensive robot hoovers have already choked on this. Unfortunately, there is the almost typical Ecovacs criticism, albeit in a weaker form than last time: The manufacturer remains true to its problem and reduces the obstacle detection on the way back to the charging station, so that the usual collisions with obstacles in the way occasionally occurred here in the test.

Cleaning performance: Thorough wiping roller

How well a robot vacuum with mopping function does the job depends primarily on its cleaning performance. How did the Ecovacs Deebot T90 Pro Omni perform here in the test?

Flagship-level suction power

With its suction power of up to 30,000 Pa, the mid-range robot robot vacuum is on a par with many flagship models. On smooth floors such as parquet or laminate, this is beyond any doubt and picked up both coarse and fine dirt. Optionally, the settings can be set to deactivate the side brush when dirt accumulations are detected so that they are not blown around.

...and in the stress test for wiping performance.

The Deebot T90 Pro Omni was also convincing on short-pile carpets, even though it dragged a light doormat halfway across the room once during the test. On a medium-pile carpet, the result with standard suction power and without special carpet depth cleaning settings was not perfect. It sucked up all the coarser dirt and hair, but a few small grains of sand remained between the pile. With the special carpet treatment activated and maximum suction power, which increases the noise level from 58 dB to around 68 dB (measured from a distance of 1 m), the result was almost perfect in the end.

Good wiping performance on the second attempt at the latest

The 27 cm wide and extendable mopping roller of the Ecovacs Deebot T90 Pro Omni impresses in the test.

With its 27 cm wide mopping roller, the Ecovacs Deebot T90 Pro Omni delivers a very good cleaning performance for a mid-range model under $900. Everyday stains were largely wiped away. Even in the endurance test of a dried ketchup stain, the T90 Pro Omni achieved a remarkable result on the first pass.

We would have liked to see automatic post-cleaning when AI stain detection was activated, but unfortunately this did not happen. After a second manually initiated wipe with maximum moisture and deep cleaning, the dried stain was not only removed visually, but also almost without a trace in the follow-up wipe test with a piece of kitchen paper. Only a few robotic vacuum cleaners with a mopping function have achieved this so far.

However, the picture is somewhat clouded by another point of criticism: Ecovacs once again does not offer a pure mopping mode, which is a shame for a robot vacuum with a strong mopping performance like this one. This means that there is always a risk of the suction unit and side brush getting dirty with greasy stains. Nevertheless, a milk stain on dark tiles was detected and the robot automatically switched to pure mopping.

Corner cleaning and anti-hair tangling

The side brush is long, but unfortunately cannot be extended.
The side brush is long, but unfortunately cannot be extended.

The side brush is quite long and sits far out in the housing. However, it cannot be extended. This results in a less thorough cleaning of corners and edges than we have seen with many other robot robot vacuums. This is where the Deebot T90 Pro Omni loses points in the test, even though the extendable roller sweeps almost edge-to-edge.

The anti-hair tangle function on the main brush, on the other hand, worked reliably. Even long test hairs did not get tangled here.

Battery life & power consumption: plenty of space thanks to PowerBoost

As already mentioned, the Deebot T90 Pro Omni comes with a quick-charging function. It uses the occasional stops at the station to clean the mopping roller and refill the integrated water tank, which only last a few minutes, for quick recharging. In this way, it manages around 10 percent in a short time. This naturally benefits the area coverage. Ecovacs advertises up to 500 square meters, which of course depends heavily on the settings selected.

In our test, robotic vacuum cleaners have to cope with a 50 square meter living environment with standard settings (standard suction power, mop moisture 30, standard route). After these settings, the charge level of the 4,000 mAh battery, which is actually quite small, still showed an impressive 75 percent thanks to the short intermediate charges. This means that around 150 to 200 square meters are possible with these cleaning settings - or smaller environments can be mastered even with high suction power without a forced charging break.

For the purposes of comparing power consumption, we assume that the above cleaning task is carried out once a day. Including the standard reprocessing with the approximately 73 dB loud but short suction, the washing and drying of the mopping unit (approx. 37 dB quiet noise) and the standby consumption, our measurements show a calculated energy consumption of around 10 kWh per month. This makes the Ecovacs Deebot T90 Pro Omni quite affordable not only in terms of purchase price, but also in terms of electricity costs.
