Rivian R2 SUV deliveries to kick off on June 9

While the brand's followers who have been checking the official website for the R2 launch news on a daily basis won't find any official statement there yet in the newsroom, Rivian has just made the big announcement on Instagram and also posted a story on the official website. The Instagram post reads, "June 9 is the big day. R2 officially launches!" and also adds a few details. The three key details highlight the start of order invitations and customer deliveries, as well as demo drives, which will open at all Rivian Spaces.
Thankfully, the post on the Rivian website mentioned above goes deeper into the invitations rollout and delivery schedule. Invitations will be sent in batches, and those located in areas around Rivian Service + Demo Centers will get them sooner. Current Rivian owners will also receive accelerated delivery timing, but it will be "balanced alongside deliveries to non-owners" so that everyone should get their cars in a timely manner. Demo drives will be available for everyone, but reservation holders who have been invited to order will have priority.
As previously announced, the R2 will launch with the Performance edition, which starts at $57,990. Later this year, the Premium trim will be available with a starting price of $53,990. The last one to join the crowd will be the Standard edition, with a base price tag of $48,490. The list of accessories available to order includes the $800 wall charger and the $400 portable charger, the $50 J1772 AC adapter, and the $200 combo CCS1 DC adapter.
Once the vehicle is configured, it will take 2 to 6 weeks for it to reach the customer. The Premium and Standard editions can also be customized right now, but they won't be available for delivery. Sadly, the most affordable version, namely Standard, will not arrive before the end of the year, and the Premium flavor should drop in "late 2026" according to Rivian.
