Bitmap Bureau and Reef Entertainment’s 16-bit retro action platforming take on Terminator, Terminator 2D: No Fate, has unfortunately been delayed a third time. The studio has shifted its November 26 release to December 12, 2025.
Terminator 2D: No Fate was initially scheduled for a September 5 release, but amid production hurdles, this release date was pushed back to October 31. Due to changing global trade and tariff situations, the game was postponed to November 26 in a previous update. However, the Day One and Collector’s Editions of Terminator 2D: No Fate will be shipped on December 12, with digital copies released on the same timeline.
Reef Entertainment's Statement
Reef Entertainment took to Steam to inform eager fans of the unfortunate delay in an update, reading:
We know you’ve waited longer than expected for the release of Terminator 2D: NO FATE, and we truly appreciate your patience and support through this journey.
The physical components for all editions have now finally arrived, following ongoing delays that pushed us off our previous schedules. However, we now have to assemble the physical editions, which need some time to do.
Because of this, we are moving the launch date of Terminator 2D: NO FATE to December 12, 2025, for all physical and digital versions of the game.
While this delay is due to more logistical reasons than gameplay development, it will affect all platforms, i.e., PC via Steam and Epic, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series S|X, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, to ensure a single launch day for all versions of the title.
A Retro-Grade Revisit of the 90's
Despite the multiple delays, fans of retro games and the Terminator movies are still hyped for Terminator 2D: No Fate’s release. The game aims to retell the events of the 1991 film Terminator 2: Judgment Day, in a 2D side-scroller fleshed out with run-and-gun shooting, high-speed chases, and stealth sections.
Players will get to take control of T-800 and Sarah Connor in the present day and as John Connor in the future. The game compiles its very own narrative takes alongside the movie’s staple moments, ultimately creating a retro shooter with multiple endings.
As December approaches, Reef Entertainment thanked fans for understanding their hurdles in developing and releasing Terminator 2D: No Fate, stating, “Thank you again for standing by us. We’re incredibly grateful, and we can't wait for you to finally experience Terminator 2D: No Fate soon.”
