RedMagic 12 Pro launches for $949 with flagship power and Steam gaming
After the RedMagic 12 Pro+ was unveiled in China in mid-October, the RedMagic 12 Pro is now launching in the rest of the world. The two models are practically identical, with one difference – the global model can "only" charge at 80 watts via USB-C instead of 120 watts, while the battery still has a capacity of 8,400 mAh and also supports 80-watt wireless charging.
Nubia stays true to its signature design, continuing to offer an unusual smartphone in 2026. The RedMagic 12 Pro features only very slightly rounded corners and a 6.85-inch display that does away with a punch-hole or notch entirely thanks to a 16-megapixel under-display camera. The AMOLED panel achieves an impressive refresh rate of 185 Hz in games and offers a resolution of 2,688 x 1,216 pixels, a full-screen brightness of 1,900 nits and a peak HDR brightness of 5,000 nits.
The flat metal frame houses touch-sensitive shoulder buttons and vents for the fan, which, like the water cooling system, features RGB lighting. This also gives the back a striking look, while the elaborate cooling system is designed to ensure that the gaming performance of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 does not drop even during extended gaming sessions. The cameras sit flush with the body, although Nubia has to use relatively small sensors to achieve this.
The 50 MP f/1.9 main camera uses a 1/1.55-inch sensor, while the 50 MP f/2.0 ultrawide camera is equipped with a 1/2.88-inch sensor. Despite its large battery and cooling system, the RedMagic 12 Pro is not particularly thick at 8.5 millimeters. The device is IP69-certified and therefore waterproof. Stereo speakers, an NFC chip, dual SIM support and the ability to play PC and Steam games via Game Space complete the package.
