The RPCS3 team has been on a marvelous streak of bug squashing and game fixes. This recently allowed the team to reach a historic playability milestone. But the team is not stopping and is making quick progress to fix remaining issues in PS3 games. The latest example of this is Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa.
The RPCS3 team recently announced on X that a bug affecting savedata that “occurred on games compiled with PS3 SDK 2.60 and older” has been fixed thanks to developer digant73. This means that gamers no longer need to worry about their progress getting lost, as they can now properly save their game in Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa.
Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa is one of the many movie tie-in games that were all too popular back in the mid-2000s. The game was released in November 2008 on the Sony PlayStation 3, Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS, PC, and mobile. It is an action-adventure 3D platformer developed by Toys for Bob, known for games like Spyro and Crash Bandicoot, and published by Activision. Sadly, Toys for Bob was hit by massive layoffs in 2024, and the studio went independent soon after.
While Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa didn’t impress critics at launch, many users did love the game, as indicated by a 7.5 user score on Metacritic. If you are a fan of Madagascar movies, then Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa is definitely worth a shot. Since it is a simple platformer, RPCS3 should be able to run the game quite well on CPUs like the Ryzen 5 5600 or better/newer CPUs.
