Apple has been collaborating with automobile brands to bring CarPlay to cars with customized brand experiences. Porsche and Aston Martin became the first brands to tweak CarPlay and introduce it to their luxury cars.
As per a report on Car and Driver, both Porsche and Aston Martin have unveiled next-generation CarPlay builds in their vehicles. As this CarPlay is based on the previous build, the basic functionality will remain the same. However, the brand will add some customizations like unique knobs or brand wallpapers.
Further, the upgraded app will connect with all the displays in the automobile instead of just the central one. Along with customizations that mimic other Apple devices, the Apple CarPlay will also display car details like speed, temperature, and fuel levels. For the car-specific details, the app will rely on the car; however, Apple notes that this vehicle data will not be tracked or stored in the connected iPhone.
At the moment, Aston Martin has announced that the new CarPlay will be compatible with the new infotainment system that is set to launch in 2024. This new system will be available in the DB12 coupe and DB12 convertible. Meanwhile, Porsche has not shared any details regarding the release of the upgraded CarPlay in its vehicles.
